Eating disorders are complex and multifaceted diseases that require specialized treatment by a multidisciplinary treatment team. What is more, teens with eating disorders have very particular needs that require specialized attention. Because a teen’s body and brain are still developing, eating disorders can have an irreversible impact on their health. For this reason it is important for young people with eating disorders to be treated by a team that understands their varied needs
We Understand Adolescents
At Roots to Recovery, we know that effectively treating teens requires special insight and an intimate understanding of what makes teens tick. Support staff at Roots to Recovery are specially trained to assist teens who struggle with eating and co-occurring disorders and our clinical team is hand-picked for their expertise in working with adolescents. For over a decade we have been healing teens and their families and we are honored that so many families have put their faith and trust in us over the years.
Focus on the Family
Roots to Recovery recognizes that the family is an important part of eating disorder treatment for teens and for that reason parents of clients in every level of care are invited to participate in their child’s treatment. Depending on whether your child is in our residential, partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient program, you will receive treatment and support a minimum of bi-weekly or as often as three times per week. This may include family therapy sessions, parent support workshops and our signature Multi-Family Restoration Group.
Studies have shown that a multidisciplinary approach is best when it comes to healing eating disorders. At Roots to Recovery, clients are treated using cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, expressive arts therapy, the twelve step model and more. During the course of treatment, your child will participate in a multitude of therapeutic activities that take into account every aspect of their health and well being. Treatment at Roots to Recovery includes careful attention paid to mental, emotional, social, spiritual and physical health so that when your child graduates from our program they will be set on a path to healthy, happy and meaningful life.
Your child’s treatment plan is created and implemented by a team of experts in adolescent eating disorders including a board certified adolescent psychiatrist, licensed therapists, licensed vocational nurses, registered dietitians and more.
Joint Commission Accreditation
Roots to Recovery is proud to retain the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Excellence. The Gold Seal guarantees that your child’s treatment plan, the facility they receive treatment in and the people who provide that treatment are second to none. Maintaining the Gold Seal means that we are subject to routine and unannounced inspections by Joint Commission representatives. During a visit from the Joint Commission licenses, safety measures, training protocols, treatment plans and more are thoroughly inspected to ensure that they meet the rigorous standards that Gold Seal holders are expected to maintain.
